What's Moving: Drishyam 3 Moves the Calendar, Ramayana Claims Diwali
Two films are reshaping this festive season. Here is what changed in October, and what it means for working artists.
The film that moved others
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion opened in theatres on October 2. It crossed ₹200 crore net in India within five days, and ticket-portal data placed its first weekend fifth-highest in Bollywood history. The impact reached other films. Udta Teer, with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, moved from October 9 to October 23 to avoid the clash.
The run so far
By day 20, Sacnilk put its India net at about ₹360 crore and worldwide gross at about ₹560 crore, though daily earnings had slowed sharply. The cast is a large ensemble: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Ramayana takes the Diwali window
The makers confirmed Ramayana: Part 1 for a worldwide release on November 5, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with IMAX among the formats. Music is by Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman, and Part 2 is set for Diwali 2027. The date had been unclear for weeks, because an international trailer showed November 6.
The early numbers
Advance booking opened on Dussehra, October 20, and about 85,000 tickets sold in under a day. Sacnilk's tally was nearly ₹5 crore at that point, with Hindi making up 95 per cent of it.
What this means for artists
1. Big films move dates. Smaller films and their promotions reshuffle around them. Keep your profile ready, because schedules change at short notice.
2. Festive weeks bring content demand. Dancers, singers, anchors and creators can build reels and performances around the Ramayana release week.
3. Ensemble casts mean many roles. Both films rely on large casts. Most working artists are hired for supporting roles, so a findable profile matters.
