7 Profile Mistakes That Quietly Cost Artists Auditions.
Most artists lose work before anyone sees their talent. A casting team opens a profile, scans it for a few seconds, and moves on. These seven small mistakes are usually the reason.
1. Photos that don't look like you. Heavy filters, old pictures, or a face hidden behind sunglasses all create doubt. If you walk into the audition and look different, you lose trust. Use a recent, clear, well-lit photo.
2. Saying you do everything. "Actor, singer, dancer, model, anchor, influencer" tells a casting director nothing. Pick your main craft and lead with it. Add the others lower down.
3. No clear one-line introduction. Without a short line saying who you are, people have to guess. Say what you are and where you are based, in one sentence. Our bio article in Issue 1 shows how.
4. A weak first clip. Many artists put their best work at the end of a long video, and nobody gets there. Open with your strongest 15 seconds. Our showreel article in Issue 1 explains how.
5. Missing basics. Casting teams filter by age range, height, languages, and city. If these are missing, you may never appear in their search at all.
6. Different names everywhere. One name on Instagram, another on YouTube, a third on your profile. People who search for you hit a dead end. Keep your name and handle the same everywhere.
7. No easy way to reach you. If a producer has to dig for your contact, they usually don't. Put one working contact method where it can be seen at once.
A quick check before you close this page. Open your profile as a stranger would. In 10 seconds, can you tell who you are, what you do, where you are based, and how to book you? If not, fix that first. The rest can wait.
