Why Is Amir Khan Known as Mr. Perfectionist? Unveiling the Secrets Behind His Title
In the upcoming episode of âThe Great Indian Kapil Showâ, Aamir Khan will be seen marking his presence, sharing anecdotes from his life. During the conversation, he also revealed that it was veteran actor Shabana Azmi who gave him the "Mr. Perfectionist" tag, as per a note shared by the Netflix team.
It dates back to the time when Aamir was shooting for Dil, directed by Indra Kumar, and the cameraman was Shabana Azmi's brother, Baba Azmi. They were having a deep discussion about films at Baba Azmiâs house when Shabana Azmi offered Aamir tea and asked how much sugar he would take. Super engrossed in his conversation, Aamir turned to her and said, âHow big is the glass?â When she showed him, Aamir, still engrossed, tried his best to answer accurately, asking, âChamcha kitna bada hai?â and finally requested for one spoon of sugar in his tea.
Shabana Azmi later went around telling people about this incident, saying if you ever ask Aamir for sugar in his tea, he will first ask you for the cup size, and thatâs how he got the "Mr. Perfectionist" tag.
Meanwhile, on the film front, as a producer, Aamir is coming up with âLahore 1947â, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, and Ali Fazal are also part of the film.
Sunny and Aamir have never worked together before. But the duo have had very iconic box-office clashes as competitors in the past, where both have eventually emerged victorious. The first iconic clash was witnessed in 1990 when Aamir Khanâs Dil and Sunny Deolâs Ghayal were released on the same day. Then, in 1996, it was âRaja Hindustaniâ vs âGhatakâ, followed by the most epic Box Office clash in 2001 when âLagaanâ was released on the same day as âGadarâ. Now, for the very first time, the duo has come together on a project. âLahore, 1947â also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Santoshi after their iconic cult classic, âAndaz Apna Apnaâ.
Amir Khan's full name is Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan. He first appeared on screen as a child actor in his uncle Nasir Hussain's film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). As an adult, his first feature film role was in Holi (1984). He began a full-time acting career with a leading role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988).
